The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Sophie loves shoes. She is always going into her shoe drawer and picking out shoes to bring to me to put on her. She was not happy that she's outgrown some of her favorites, as seen here!

Sophie likes to get herself into containers, as you can see here. The small stuffed toy puppy in the picture on the left was inside the box this morning, until Miss Sophie came along and evicted him.

Sophie is missing Daddy. The first thing she asked me when I got home from work was, "Papa?" "Papa?" She was really excited when we talked to him on the webcam, though! Hurray for technology!

This photo is from a few weeks before Daddy left, but it looks like she was trying to figure out how to stow away to Canada with him.

The mornings are chillier and chillier here in San Antonio -- fall is coming! This weekend, Sophie and I did a little mommy and daughter shopping. We got some new toys, some jeans, and a cute fall top. Shaun and Amanda came over Saturday night with Liam. Sophie was pretty fascinated by Liam, although she seemed a kinda wary about having another baby nap in her crib! Sunday morning, though, the first thing she said when she woke up was, "Baby?" "Baby?"

Granpa came to visit us this weekend, too, which was great. Sophie even got to "sneak" a few sips of Coke, courtesy of Granpa.

Sophie had a tumble Sunday evening--she went rolling over the top of her new playground ball and ended up with a scraped nose and shiner on her check. She's such a little toughie, though, she cried so little that I didn't realize how bad it was until we got inside the house!

Sophie's got another word she's using a lot: "no." Only when she says it, it sounds more like, "n-yeh." As in, Sophie, let's change your shirt. N-yeh! Sophie, bite of toast? N-yeh!

This weekend the three of us: went to the Gulley's ranch in Pearsall and went swimming; ran errands; played in the backyard; and gave Wally a bath. Oh, and Sophie got a new toy, which she loves--the cornpopper!

Sophie is such a little chatterbox! She understands a lot more than she can say--she'll nod her head when we ask her if she wants milk, for example. She also understands when I ask her to bring me or Daddy something, like her shoes. She was walking around Sunday afternoon saying, "Ba, Ba, Ba, Ba."

Marta was bathing Sophie in the kitchen sink when I got home today. She got so excited when we called Daddy in Minneapolis with the webcam! She blew him kisses.

Today is Sophie's 1 year and 4 month birthday!

We discovered last week that she loves to watch football on t.v.--a true Texas girl! She laughs and giggles at the plays, and yells "goal!"

Randy came up with the nickname, "Danger Ranger" because Sophie hasn't met an adventure she didn't like as long as there is furniture to climb, flips to flip, and animals to investigate. Sophie is very social, and she enjoys running around with us on our errands or going out to eat. In fact, the biggest problem when taking her to restaurants isn't her behavior, but getting her to stop people-watching and actually eat something.

At home though, Sophie likes to try all kinds of new foods and isn't a picky eater. Some of her favorites are water (agua was her first word), strawberries, broccoli, penne pasta, and all kinds of cheese.

She also loves her "bubba" Wally and is so sweet to him -- she loves to give him hugs and snuggle up next to him.

This weekend, our friends, the Gulleys, invited us to go swimming in New Braunfels. Sophie had a terrific time--there are pictures of her and her friend Alexander enjoying the water at http://www.flickr.com/photos/wclonghorn/sets/72157607060976138/!
