Yoga, yoga, yoga

Sophie and I went to a Mom & Kid Yoga Class today. (Obviously, not the meditative-type of yoga). The class was packed! It was lots of fun. Bonus: they had a animal presentation afterward, and we got to see a live hedgehog, a Madagascar hissing cockroach (seriously, those were yucky), some sort of Australian lizard, and a baby wallaby!

Amen!

I wish I could have a picture of this, but words will have to do. For awhile now, Sophie has been learning to make the sign of the cross and clasp her hands when we say our prayers, like grace before meals and our bedtime prayers. Lately, she's also started to close her eyes when we pray. She scrunches her eyes closed, looks up, and then (Randy says) she kinda peeks out occasionally to see what's going on. Words don't really do it justice, but really, it's the most precious thing you've ever seen!

May Weekend

We went to the Pearl Brewery on Saturday for the Farmer's Market. By the time we got there, everything was sold out! This is Sophie and Randy looking down at the new Riverwalk construction.
Hard to believe, but it was so hot in this picture we were sweating. A couple of hours later, we were sitting on the front porch watching the rain, and enjoying a cool breeze! It was a great day.

Goodbye, Goodbye

Sometimes Sophie will sing part of a song we have called Goodbye, Goodbye. I was trying to get her to sing it. Translation, "Goodbye! Cheese!"

New Things

Sophie can recognize the letter "O." And, she can say her name! You can ask her, "what's your name? and she'll tell you, "So-tie."

A Few Of Her Favorite Things

Wake Up Night (when she turns to the page with the owl, she says, "whoo-whoo" and says "buho" and "owl"). Strawberries. Elephant blanket on her feet when she's going to sleep. Bubbles. Balloons. Lola. (Sesame Street in spanish). Putting on Mommy's shoes.

Bunny My Honey

Today Sophie asked me to read this book to her. It's a story about a little bunny who gets lost and is found by his bunny mom. Sophie's heard it several times, but it's not one we read over and over (like Goodnight Moon). The neat thing was that before I even opened the book, she started saying "Mommy, Mommy," which is what the little bunny says mid-way through the story when he's looking for his mom. I think Sophie is now able to recall the plot of her books!

Mother's Day

Today Sophie and I: slept late, ate breakfast, went to Mass, and played with all her new toys she got for her birthday. We had lots of fun drawing on her easel and working with clay. Read books, refused to nap (Sophie), ate snack, finally took nap, and ended the day off with dinner for three at Pei Wei. Finally, we made our weekly Sunday trip to H-E-B. Then another bubble bath, "tche-tche," snuggle, and bed.

Sophie's 2nd Birthday

Here's Sophie on the morning of her second birthday. She's opening a present from me and Randy.

Later, she had an improptu second birthday party with some of her little friends and friends of Tia Marta. Tia Marta cooked tacos for lunch, and everyone had chocolate birthday cake for dessert.

Buckle Up, Chango!

One of Sophie's latests things is that whenever she gets out of her carseat, Chango (Monkey) has to take her place. And he has to be completely buckled up.

So, after a weekend of running around with Sophie, here's what greets me on Monday morning when I get in the car to head to work. Not a bad way to start the week.
